Brickell Avenue is the name given to the stretch of U.S. Route 1 in Miami, Florida just south of the Miami River. It is the main road through the Brickell district of Downtown Miami, and is considered to be one of the most prestigious avenue names, as it is associated with big business, wealth and finances.
It is an off-grid plan main north-south thoroughfare through the south part of downtown Miami.

Brickell (pronounced "BRICK-uhl") is a neighborhood partly within Downtown Miami, Florida. It lies south of the Miami River, extending south to SE 26th Road (the Rickenbacker Causeway), and is mostly mixed financial and residential north of Broadway, and mostly residential south of Broadway. In the 1930s the Pinecrest condos area growth continued and the community began to evolve around one of the first tourist attractions established in the Miami vicinity – Parrot Jungle and Gardens. The Parrot Jungle was founded in 1936 by Franz and Louise Scherr on twenty-acres of property located at Red Road and Southwest 111 Street and over the years became a world famous tourist attraction whose visitors included Sir Winston Churchill. The Miami Serpentarium, another popular tourist attraction, was located on US 1 for many decades prior to closing in the mid-1980s. During the 1950s and 1960s the area flourished with the development and construction of ranch-style homes on acre lots which laid the foundation for the community’s rural and lushly landscaped residential character. Rapid Real Estate growth and local issues during the 1990s inspired a movement led by residents Evelyn Langlieb Greer and Gary Matzner to incorporate the area. The Village of Pinecrest was officially incorporated on March 12, 1996. Greer was elected the first mayor and was succeeded, after serving two terms, by Matzner in 2004. Coconut Grove, originally spelled Cocoanut Grove, is a neighborhood located in the City of Miami, Florida in Miami-Dade County, United States. The area is defined as southeast of US 1, from N. Prospect Ave as the southern border to the intersection of US 1 and Brickell Ave as the northern border. The western border is Le Jeune Road and the eastern border is Biscayne Bay. Technically, all of Coconut Grove has a zip code of 33133, which actually extends the area north of US 1 into what is called "Silver Bluffs". The region is often referred to simply as "The Grove". Several waves of immigration established Coconut Grove, the first in 1825, when the Cape Florida lighthouse went into operation and was manned by John Dubose. The post office was established in 1873, around the same time that the area saw an influx of Americans from the Northeastern US, as well as British immigrants. Coconut Grove's first black settlement, in the 1880s, was established by Bahamian craftsmen and sailors and their families. The first hotel on the south Florida mainland was located in Coconut Grove. Called the Bay View Inn (later known as the Peacock Inn), it was built in 1882, on the site of present-day Peacock Park, by English immigrants Isabella and Charles Peacock, who had been the owner of a wholesale meat business in London.
World-renowned for its annual art festival, Coconut Grove's other events include the King Mango Strut, which began as a parody of the Orange Bowl Parade.
